I arrived in Jacksonville, Florida, on July 8, 1991, shortly after graduating from the Universidad Interamericana de San Germán, Puerto Rico. I was twenty-three years old. What I thought would be a season became nearly thirty-five years. The United States became my home.
During those years, I learned the language, worked in social work–related fields, served as a Senior Pastor and Prison Ministry Director, functioned as a psalmist, and carried many other responsibilities. Yet through it all, I waited—patiently and prayerfully—for God’s promise to return me to Puerto Rico, not as a young man, but as a mature minister.
When my wife and I arrived in Puerto Rico at the beginning of December of last year, we were still unsure if the timing was right. Almost immediately, the Lord instructed me to write a book: La Mano de Dios Sobre Puerto Rico. (The Hand of God Over Puerto Rico). I began spending ten-plus-hour days writing, researching, and rediscovering my own country—its history, its wounds, and its spiritual legacy.
Just a few weeks ago, the Lord spoke clearly to me: It is time.
He brought me back to my homeland. The book is His vision and His mindset for this season of my life, now that I am fifty-seven years old.
My wife, Reina, stands faithfully by my side, and together we are ready to let God use us—both in ministry and in business. For more than three decades, I dedicated my gifts and talents to the United States. Now, I am prepared to give my best to Puerto Rico.
I understand the challenges facing our island today—many of which did not exist thirty years ago. But I am not returning with a political party, an ideology, or an agenda. I am not here to debate Puerto Rico’s status or argue over who should hold power.
I am here to remind our people that Puerto Rico was at its best when the river of revival flowed through this land.
I am not pointing to myself.
I am pointing to God.
Puerto Rico… I am home. 🇵🇷
