Hate is energy that starts in our minds, is felt in our emotions, is heard in our voices, and is ultimately quenched by the shedding of blood. It will find its way into our streets sooner or later.
There are those with quiet hate in their hearts and a thirst for violence; all they need is a provocation. They find that provocation in the mouth of instigators: Some of the Hollywood elite, some songwriters, some athletes, some politicians, some reporters, and anybody with enough influence.
If Former President Donald Trump is a threat to democracy… if he is the reincarnation of Hitler, if he is a racist, then you gave 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crook no choice but to take it upon himself to kill him. He convinced himself that it was his duty to do so, that if somebody was going to do it, it needed to be him. He came very close to doing so. In the process took the life of another man and injured two others.
We live in a world of lies; why should we be surprised; the god of this world is Satan himself. Second Corinthians 4:4 tells us, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (NIV)
People are blinded and unable to see the truth and the precious glory in the only hope for the world… the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So, in the absence of light… there is darkness. In the absence of love… there is hate. The assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump was in the makings since he decided to run for President, or do you think that the rhetoric against him was not going to manifest?
In America, we have forgotten that we are free to express our ideas, that we are free to disagree and to debate, but that we still must respect one another and protect the freedom given to us as Americans. This freedom some time ago separated us from the rest of the world. That freedom requires responsibility, a passion for truth, love for human life, and, at times, restraint for the sake of decency.
Presidents and Prime Ministers can lead nations in other countries for decades; our Presidents are limited to eight years in America. In America, we vote politicians in and out; we don’t disqualify them even if they are old, and we don’t shoot them either.
We, the people, decided that Biden is our candidate for the Democratic Party and that Trump is our candidate for the Republicans. Let’s stop the hate, let’s debate ideas, let’s pursue the truth, let’s vote in November, and let’s send a clear message to the instigators that we, as a nation, decide who we want to lead us and that we in America can still shake hands, enjoy our freedom, and get on with our lives after the election.
