The Prophetic Lens

Tomorrow, I celebrate seven months of this new way of eating. I will not call it Keto or Carnivore. I call it a High Protein, High Fat, and Low Carbs Lifestyle. I am happy to report that I feel great. Even though I am still not exercising as I would like, I don’t look any different; I look better now than when I was exercising a year ago, but still eating like a pig. I am sure I will not be called to the next The Expendables movie, but as far as I am concerned, I look much better than my age (55).

I continue to be blown away that even when I exercise, lift weights or work in the yard, I am not experiencing soreness as I stated before; I am down to only one medication Metformin. My glucose continues to be normalized; my spikes are always in the morning when I wake up. However, I am getting a little better. I am now taking Metformin consistently, not only in the AM but also at night. That hurt my pride, but I must remember that I have been damaging my body for decades. Perhaps if I had adopted this way of eating in my 30s, I could have been totally off my meds.

The best thing with this approach to eating is that I eat twice a day, at times, just once, not because I plan to, but because I am not hungry. I feel satiated. This is a great feeling!

An essential part of my job is to lead therapeutic groups with men struggling with addictions to diverse drugs and alcohol. I also must do individual counseling sessions. I feel very productive intellectually. As stated in previous articles, I am working on my Master of Christian Counseling. This way of eating is also helping me to retain the material I am learning. I do feel mentally sharper.

By now, as I celebrate my seventh month, every other way of eating I engaged in was a failure. By now, I felt hungry and weak! This way of eating is different. I feel stronger and satiated. Hunger is not an issue. So far… so good!
