The Prophetic Lens

I moved to Arizona in January 2020 from Fairbanks, Alaska. This is truly a golf paradise! During the summers I played at Arizona Traditions and during the winter at Great Eagle. What a blessing indeed!

Here in Arizona, we have been so blessed as we enjoy the blessing of God. How do we know that this blessing comes from God? Because it has no sorrow in it (Proverbs 10:22) The precious home we live in is paid for and, the two cars we drive are also paid for. I owe nobody anything, but love (Romans 13:8-10). I am not bragging about myself but giving glory to God.

I started working as a Case Manager at COPA Health West Valley Clinic on 3/9/2020. I have over 70 clients I have the honor of coordinating service for. On June 8, 2022, I officially started my home church; later I started calling it “Manantial del Valle” (Spring of the Valley). We have had our ups and downs in terms of attendance, but in terms of ministry, it has been rich and effective.

Not everything has been cookies and flowers; in the last two-plus years, I have seen the deterioration of my son Brandon’s mental health. Brandon has become very aggressive and destructive. He needs 24/7 supervision that we are unable to give him because of our responsibilities.

This upcoming Saturday Brandon will be moving to a group home and will be a part of a program for adults with special needs. I have mixed feelings about it, but I know it is necessary. It has been a tough two-plus years in dealing with Brandon; looking forward to some rest and restoration.

At 54 years of age, I must take care of a few health concerns. Diabetes is still an issue, and sleep apnea has become a greater issue. I went to the doctor a couple of days ago and my blood pressure is high. I am now waiting for the result of my labs and will see the doctor again next month. The doctor told me that I look in good shape and that I look much younger than 54; however, I have some issues that I must address, and… I will.
